Pembroke Port is changing. As part of the Pembroke Dock Marine development, we are developing our facilities and spaces to ensure we can continue to support the industrial growth and create new jobs and opportunities for our communities.
We are proud to be part of the development that will establish a world-class centre for marine energy and engineering on the Milford Haven Waterway. It’s a £60m project funded by the Swansea Bay City Deal, the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government and through private investment. It’s an incredible opportunity positioning Pembroke Dock at the heart of the emerging marine energy industry, and across the maritime sector.
The project will create huge opportunities for local businesses and the community. These changes will do more than build a stronger local economy, there will also be an increase in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) related careers which are at the heart of the renewables industry, meaning new, challenging and rewarding careers within Pembrokeshire. But the benefits will be felt across many businesses and industries as we all work together to benefit from this once in a generation opportunity.
Heritage building renovation
Work to renovate the Sunderland Hangar annexes has started, with R&M Williams appointed as the main contractor. These will become office and workshop spaces for industry.

Slipway and workboat pontoon construction
The new slipway will provide maximum flexibility for the launch and recovery of marine energy devices and vessels, while the pontoons will strengthen the Port’s operations and maintenance proposition for the floating offshore wind (FLOW) industry. The construction started in August 2022 by contractor BAM Nuttall.

Laydown space expansion
Land remediation works were started in October 2022 by the Walters Group. The work involves undertaking clearance and levelling works and the demolition of a building in the south side of the site to create 17,000sqm of laydown space by the end of 2023.
