The Port of Milford Haven has confirmed it will be a gold sponsor of this year’s Marine Energy Wales conference, the largest conference in the UK dedicated to marine energy, as its involvement with the industry strengthens.
The annual conference brings together professionals from across the marine energy sector over three days offering networking opportunities and discussions about the challenges and future opportunities for developments in Wales.
The Port of Milford Haven is working closely with industry to ensure it adapts to changing demands and is creating the spaces, facilities and services that will support device development and operations to establish a world-class centre of excellence for marine energy and engineering. The Pembroke Dock Marine development is set to create an attractive operating environment for inward investors and local businesses, creating year-round, highly-skilled, well paid jobs for the community.
Presenting at the conference will be the Port’s Energy Development Manager, Tam Bardell, who has been pivotal in the piSCES project which uses smart grid technology to reduce the costs and carbon footprint of energy networks in the fish processing industry. Tam will also present on Milford Haven: Energy Kingdom, a £4.5 million project exploring the vital role hydrogen could play in a decarbonised energy future.
Tim James, Head of Commercial and Energy at the Port, will be on hand to discuss the Port’s involvement in the £60m Swansea Bay City Deal Pembroke Dock Marine project, as well as the more specific Pembroke Dock Infrastructure project at Pembroke Port. The development builds on the Port’s existing facilities to ensure we can continue to support developers as they move towards commercialisation.

The Pembroke Dock Infrastructure project as part of Pembroke Dock Marine has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government.
The piSCES project is funded by the EU Interreg Ireland-Wales Programme.
MH:EK is one of the chosen ‘Detailed Design’ projects within the Prospering from the Energy Revolution (PfER) programme of works funded by Innovate UK as part of their Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF).
